It’s true: our little girl is turning three on Friday. She is already quite the reader, and I thought I’d do some reminiscing.
Her first bookshelf was lovingly stocked with books we’d collected for her. Now the shelves are overflowing.
5 months, already loving Sandra Boynton.
Her first Christmas Eve, opening a copy of The Night Before Christmas from her paternal grandparents. Still a favorite.
18 months, reading Muppet Babies while snacking.
20 months or so, reading The Snow Ghosts with daddy.
Two years old, reading Some Dogs Do with Aunt Megan.
27 months, reading with mommy (I’m pretty sure this is The Busy Little Squirrel).
28 months, showing off Josh Schneider’s award-winning children’s book.
2 1/2, reading Amelia Bedelia with mommy.
Almost 3, reading The Ladybug to her baby brother. She has actually memorized some of her favorite board books, and loves to “read” them to us.
I can’t express how much I love sharing my favorite children’s books with my favorite children.

So sweet! Happy early birthday Simone! One of my favorite early memories is reading with my mom who was able to stay at home with me and my sister. A lifetime of stories await discovery…
